fotoWhat Atelje Janja Gora values the most is the creative development of children.
'Kreativci u Lici' (translated to 'creatives in Lika') is a lasting program of our atelier with the goal of enriching the childhood of all children, especially children with no access to creative activities that develop their skill in art, free thinking, positive approach and individualism through community.
Workshops for and with children are based on a democratic view on education and developing the aspects of a child that are often neglected due to buisy parents and buisy schedules. Hereby we especially mean children that are growing up in places where the community is underdeveloped.
Our mission is to give these children, as well as all other children that show interest for it, a possibility of developing their own creativity through play, through contact with an ancient material – clay, through contact with the primary elements we are all made of: earth, air, fire and water.
On our ceramic workshops, children can discover these primary elements and their relations.
All workshops are based on individual approach. Children are given easier and more complicated tasks depending on their age and skill, teaching them basic techniques of making ceramics. Children choose their own path according to their interests, and the lecturers are there to make their choices easier and give them the information they need along the way.

On these workshops children have the opportunity to discover these essential elements and the connections between them. All of the workshops are based on an individual approach. Depending on their age, they are given from simpler to more complicated tasks simultaneously teaching them basic techniques of making ceramics. The children choose their path their selves depending on their aspirations and interests so the leaders of the workshops are there to make their choices easier and to give them information which they might need on that path.

On our workshops, developing a sense of community is of special importance. Children are included in projects where they work together with their peers to create sculptures, murals, large clay figures etc.
This way, they discover not only ther individual creativity but also the possibility of linking it to others on a subtle creational level. The big space and land of Atelje Janja Gora gives them endless room to play, to socialize and develop the feeling of togetherness.

We divided our workshops for children into two main categories:
- workshops for children with parents, grandparents and guardians
- group workshops for schools, associations, communities etc.

Workshops for children (with adults) every first Saturday in the month

fotoWorkshops for children with their adult companions (parents, grandparents or other) are held in the atelier Janja Gora.
They are open for all children and dedicated to children's playful creation, connecting kids from different places.
The workshops are addapted to all ages.

On these workshops there is a variety of themes, but they all have one thing in common: working together and enjoying creative expression – for the parents and the children. Here they learn the basics of working with clay and various techniques and possibilities this material provides, discovering within themselves a connection with the primal element of creation – earth. Alongside smaller, individual projects making little things, children are also involved in making sculptures together, building clay houses, mushrooms, plants and animals, thus becoming a part of a bigger picture, connecting with anyone that has ever attended the workshop.

The maximized number of participates is 6 children + their adult companion. This number can be further adjusted due to the applications because the quality of the workshop is of the most importance.

The price of a one-day workshop is Kn 350,- (€ 50,-) for a child and adult, together. Every additional child Kn 50,- (€ 7,-).
The price includes lunch, lessons, materials, tool use, firing of ceramics and refreshments (tea, coffee, juice).

Beginning of workshop 11.00 a.m.
Lunch 1.30 p.m.
Activities 2.30 p.m.- 4.30 p.m.
End of workshop 5.00 p.m.

Group workshops
fotoGroup workshops for children are intended for schools, children's clubs, student groups etc., more specifically, groups of children that already spend some of their time together. We offer the moderators of these organizations the possibility of adding a ceramics program to their organization. This program is similiar to our other programs for children, but can be modified according to the wishes and interests of children.

These workshops can be done in the atelier in Janja Gora or in the space where the children usually spend their time (schools, any kinds of groups, kindergartens). In the latter case, members of the atelier come and bring all the needed equipment and materials for the workshop.
The first possibility is, however, much better because in the space of the atelier itself children can experience a different environment which can help deepen the feeling of creative thrill and the enjoyment of their time working with clay. In the atelier children can include themselves in various projects already in motion on the grounds of Atelje Janja Gora (building small houses or other clay sculptures, making mosaics etc.) or start their own, new project to enjoy together with their teachers and mentors.
Group workshops usually last up to 3 hours which is the optimal time of a child's creative focus and enough time for it to create something visible, something tangible.
However, the duration and themes of the workshops can be addapted to the needs of the group, of course.

If you are planning this kind of workshop it is best to contact us so we can discuss the duration and theme of the workshop, including the expences.

The maximum number of participants is 20 children, and the prices are
Kn 50,- per person for a 3 hour workshop
Kn 100,- per person for a whole day workshop

The prices include materials, proffesional guidance, refreshments (juice, tea etc.).
If it's a whole day workshop, we can include a simple lunch (35,- Kn).
In case the workshops are in your own spaces and not in the space of the atelier, transportation and travel costs must be added to the price depending on how far the place of the workshop is. For all details, information and any other questions you can send us an email.

The money gained from the workshops is used for realizing the goals of our atelier and promoting ceramics as an art and a social, economical and turistic initiator for our community.
